| Run Job in Foreground | Solves the solution in the foreground and freezes this software so that you cannot make changes to your model during the solve.Clear this option to be able to access this software while solving the solution. | |||||
| Values Outside Time-dependent Tables | Lets you control the out-of-bound values for time-dependent tables.ConstantUses the actual time value and truncates the results when they are out of range of time specified.PeriodicUses the time as a cyclic value and truncates the results inside the table time range. | |||||
| External Solver Options | ||||||
| Available when Analysis Type is set to Coupled Thermal-Structural, Coupled Thermal-Flow, or Coupled Thermal-Flow-Structural. | ||||||
| Include External Solver | Enables a coupled thermal-structural-flow analysis where the Multiphyscs coupled analysis is coupled with external CFD solvers. | |||||
| External Solvers | Available when Include External Solver is selected. Adds External Solver modeling objects to the solution. Each modeling object specifies one external CFD solver, its input file, and its settings. The order of the modeling objects specifies the order in which the software runs these CFD solvers. For more information, see External Solver dialog box (Multiphysics). | |||||
| Thermal - External Solver Iteration Limit | Available when Include External Solver is selected. Sets the maximum number of coupled thermal-CFD solve iterations for the coupled thermal-structural-flow analysis if the convergence is not achieved. | |||||
| Set Coupling Thermal Convergence Control | Available when Include External Solver is selected. Sets convergence controls for the coupling between the thermal solver and the external CFD solvers. | |||||
| Convergence Criterion | Available when Set Coupling Thermal Convergence Control is selected. Sets the coupled thermal-CFD convergence value. This value must be a positive number greater than 0, but less than 1.For each iteration, convergence is checked at the solver level and then at the Multiphysics level. The thermal, external CFD, and structural solvers check convergence individually during their solves according to the convergence criteria that you specify.For Thermal, specify convergence criteria in the Thermal Solution Parameters modeling object.For the external CFD solver, specify convergence criteria in the External Solver modeling object.For Simcenter Nastran, specify convergence criteria in the Nonlinear Control Parameters modeling object.The solvers report their convergence status to Multiphysics at the end of each solve that they perform.Multiphysics monitors the coupled thermal-CFD convergence according to the Convergence Criterion and Convergence Norm values. Multiphysics advances to the next time step when one of the following is reached:The Thermal - External Solver Iteration Limit (maximum number of coupled thermal-CFD solve iterations per time step)The coupled thermal-CFD Convergence CriterionThe software calculates convergence by creating a ratio that compares the values of exchanged variables for the current step to the values at the previous step. The ratio is created according to your selected Convergence Norm. When this ratio becomes less than your specified Convergence Criterion, the step is considered converged. | |||||
| Convergence Norm | Available when Set Coupling Thermal Convergence Control is selected. Specifies the type of convergence norm that is used to calculate the convergence ratio for the variables that are exchanged between the thermal and external CFD solver.MAXUses the maximum norm convergence criterion, | Δx | max/ | x | mean.L2Uses the L2 criterion, | |
| Relaxation | Available when Set Coupling Thermal Convergence Control is selected.Sets a relaxation factor to the variables that are exchanged between the thermal and external CFD solver to limit the amount these variables can change from one step to the next. A smaller value applies more relaxation to the solution variables.The solution with a relaxation factor may take longer to complete, but it may be required for a successful convergence. The resulting converged solution is generally the same with or without a relaxation factor.The relaxation factor f is applied as follows:vtarget(i)=f∙vsource(i) + (1–f) ∙ *vtarget(i-1)*where:vtarget(i) is the solution variable applied to the target solver at iteration i.vsource(i) is the solution variable computed from the source solver at iteration i. | vtarget(i)=f∙vsource(i) + (1–f) ∙ vtarget(i-1) | where:vtarget(i) is the solution variable applied to the target solver at iteration i.vsource(i) is the solution variable computed from the source solver at iteration i. | |||

| User Defined Text | ||||||
| File Management User Defined Text | Lets you specify the User Defined Text modeling object that contains the text to insert at the end of the File Management section of your input file. | |||||
| Executive Control User Defined Text | Lets you specify the User Defined Text modeling object that contains the text to insert at the end of the Executive Control section of your input file. | |||||
| Case Control User Defined Text | Lets you specify the User Defined Text modeling object that contains the text to insert at the end of the Case Control section of your input file. | |||||

| Thermal Include File | Available when Analysis Type is set to Coupled Thermal-Structural, Coupled Thermal-Flow, or Coupled Thermal-Flow-Structural.Includes additional custom files to the thermal analysis. Included files can be user subroutines or files in the INPF file format. You set the location of the thermal include file in the Select File box. You can specify only one file, but you can include multiple files. To include multiple files, you must create a text file that includes the path and the names of the other files that you want to include. | |||||
| User Defined API File | Available when Analysis Type is set to Coupled Flow-Structural, Coupled Thermal-Flow, or Coupled Thermal-Flow-Structural.Allows you to specify a user-defined API file that is a dynamically linked library (DLL) containing your plugin, which lets you expand the capabilities of the parallel flow solver. You specify the DLL in the Select File box. For more information, see Specify a flow user defined API file and Flow Solver API Manual . | |||||
