Model and mesh validation > Checking for doubly dependent nodes
Identify and correct double dependencies
Use the DOF Dependence Check command to check your model for double dependencies and resolve them by editing or deleting the elements connected to the node at which the conflict exists.
Check for double dependencies
With the FEM file as the displayed and work part, choose Home tab→Checks and Information group→More list→DOF Dependence Check .
In the DOF Dependence Check dialog box, click Run DOF Dependence Check .
Resolve double dependencies
In the DOF Dependence Check dialog box, locate a conflict you want to resolve from the list. If the list contains many conflicts, you can locate a specific conflict by right-clicking any column and choosing one of the following options:Filter Lets you filter the list based on the selected column.Find Lets you search the list based on the selected column.FreezeLets you keep an area of the list visible while scrolling to other areas of the list.
Right-click the conflict from the list and choose one of the following options:Fit Objects in View Fits the selected conflict to the work view.Edit Lets you edit the specified element. When you edit an element, you can change the nodes that the element connects to or reverse the independent and dependent node selection. This ensures that the connected elements no longer share a dependent node.Delete Lets you delete the specified element. If you choose to delete the specified element, the element is deleted and the conflict now contains an icon in the Id column of the list. You must recheck your model to ensure that the conflict is resolved. After deleting the specified element, go to step 4.
In the Edit Element dialog box, do one of the following:Change the nodes that the element connects to so that the connected elements no longer share a dependent node. For more information on rigid elements, see R-Type Elements.Select the independent nodes at which the independent degrees of freedom are defined. In the Dependent Node group, click Select Object and select the dependent nodes at which the dependent degrees of freedom are defined.Click Reverse to reverse the independent and dependent node selection so that the connected elements no longer share a dependent node. Make sure that the new dependent node selection is not already specified as a dependent node by another rigid element.Tip: The node at which the conflict exists is highlighted in the graphics window. After editing one of the conflicting elements, the conflict now contains an icon in the Id column of the list. You must recheck your model to ensure that the conflict has been resolved.
Click Run DOF Dependence Check to recheck your model.Resolved conflicts are removed from the list. Remaining unresolved conflicts are indicated by an icon.
